  2. William Butler Yeats wrote "THE SECOND COMING" soon after the WORLD WAR I. "THE SECOND COMING" ,of course ,refers to the christian prophecy in Bible's Book of Revelation that Jesus will return to reign over earth in the end times. But Yeats had its own mystical view of the history and future end of the world ,embodied in his image of the "gyres".The Gyre represents different elemental forces in the historical cycles each beginning in the purity of concentrate point and degenerating into chaos(or vice versa) and his poem describes an apocalypse very different from the christian vision of the end of the world.

  4. In his poem THE SECOND COMING , Yeats indicates that continued destructive actions of humankind will result in the birth of a new age that is dark, foreboding , and ruled by anarchy . The poem serves as a warning of what might lie ahead if we do not change directions soceity continues to take. Finally,at the end of the poem, the speakers asks a rhetorical question which really amounts to a prophecy that the beast is on its way to Bethlehem, the birthplace of christ, to be born to the world.

  5. In the poem THE SECOND COMING , the poet react to thto the rising tide of violence in postwar europe. By using the image of falcon moving far away from the falconer likewise nowadays people also do not follow the religion and values. There is no unifying force, with the result that 'Things Fall Apart'and anarchy is let loose. The 2 essential qualities have dissappeared they are innocence and lifestyle. life become drab and mechanicalpeople become crafty. Poet visualises a terrible God with a human head and a lion body its way to Bethlehem, the birthplace of christ. The mordern world will suffer, but people don't worry about it . SECOND COMING of christ will ferocious ,he never show kind and pity like the first coming.

  6. In the Bible's Book of Revelation, Christ is prophesied to return to the world to engage in a campaign, called the Battle of Armageddon, against the forces of evil. The image of ‘The Second Coming’ is no heraldic emblem but moves, its pitiless inhumanity reflected from its human head, and the reeling of the desert birds echoes the falcon’s towering at the opening of the poem. The ‘slow thighs’ emphasise its physicality and almost sexual aura.

  8. THE SECOND COMING which was written by W.B.Yeats expresses his reaction to the rising tide of violence in postwar Europe. By using the image of falcon moving far away from the falconer,Yeats implies that people are no longer subject to their leaders, political and spiritual.Yeats is sure that the christian era is drawing to a close. THE SPIRITUS MUNDI or the spirit of the age is surcharged with violence.the poet visualizes a terrible god with a human head and a lion-body making its way to Bethlehem, the birthplace of Christ. Yeats is not quite happy about the cult of violence superceding Christianity and so images it as formidable beast.

  11. Yeats says that surely the Second Coming is at hand. NO sooner he thinks of the Second Coming, then he troubled by the vast image of Spiritus Mundi, or the collective spirit of mankind. The darkness again over the speakers sight but he knows Spinx twenty century of stony sleep have been made a nightmare by the motion of rocking cradle. And what rough beast he wonders its hours come round atlast..

  14. Yeats was a master of the visual symbol. In the poem, ' The Second Coming' by the lrish poet Yeats, the emotional element are critical to consider upon first reading it. The first image is am image of disaster; a falcon cannot hear the call of safety, and begins to spiral wider and wider, more out of control. 'Things fall apart, the centre cant hold' Yeats referring to a society out of control. Nature cannot stop the change. Moving can stop whats 'Slouching towards Bethlehem to be born' Yeats use of rich and vivid symbols in this poem creates a delimi of disaster, turning to dread at the thought of facing a change, even when such change could be an improvement.
